Summer In New Orleans
How does the song go? Summertime…and the livin’ is easy. Easy? Life isn’t so easy in the Big Easy these days. Summer, however, is full of challenging recovery work, meaningful people projects, and an abundance of opportunities to make a difference, to contribute, and to have a life-defining experience!
Summer semester will bring Living Lab students the opportunity to engage in various value-added, intensive community service experiences. We encourage you to spend the summer in the New Orleans region, participating in one of our summer session service learning experiences. |
The summer term provides a great opportunity to condense your Living Lab experience, immersing yourself in the recovery process, and helping to restore and preserve unique cultural, architectural, historical, and environmental resources, while getting to know the region and the people that define it.
Here is a list of the types of service learning experiences that already may be available or customized for your interests in each of our colleges. Contact us to discuss your specific interests in service learning at UNO: |

UNO Metropolitan College, International and Interdisciplinary Studies
UNO Metropolitan College is your hub for community engagement at the University of New Orleans. With its responsibility to extend the university’s programs and services into the surrounding community and region, Metropolitan College administers Interdisciplinary Studies and provides connections to its network of non-profit organizations and internship partners. The college also provides services to numerous government agencies and businesses engaged in the recovery of the greater New Orleans region. These organizations are the community partners through which Living Lab participants will engage in service internships and work experiences.
